A mixed bag outing to Kerala

Posted on December 5, 2025December 5, 2025 by Mahathi & Pragathi

A sudden plan, but an awesome one!

A few things were on the itinerary. We planned to visit our family deity at the Meenkulathi Bhagavathi Temple in Pallassena village, Palakkad, Kerala. We visit this place every year to offer our gratitude and seeking the well-being of all of us. We both got an opportunity to sing a song in praise of Goddess Kamakshi at the temple premises. That was a blissful experience and we prayed to the Devi for all her blessings.

After this we headed to Guruvayur Temple, located in Thrissur District.

Guruvayur Shree Krishna Temple.

This is a temple which is dedicated to Lord Krishna (also known as Guruvayurappan). This Idol, was first located in Dwaraka city. It is believed that when Dwaraka was flooded, Guru and Vayu brought the idol which was floating in the waters to this place in Kerala.

The Darshan process was really draining as we stood in the queue for about 1.5 hours! But was surely worth it!

Post the darshan, we had a sumptuous lunch, went to our room to take a quick break. Then, in the evening, we decided to do a quick visit to Chavakkad Beach. We spent a good amount of time there enjoying the beautiful sunset.

There were a mix of vibrant colors in the sky, as the sun was going down..

All of us were feeling super hungry once we were done so we went to a nearby Café and had the famous Kerala snack- Pazham Poori with chai. Added to the mix were a couple of Veggie burgers too 🙂

Next morning we headed towards Coimbatore to meet our cousins, before which we had a good breakfast of Dosas and Puttu with Kadala curry.

On the way, we also went to the Athirappilly Falls in Chalakudi. Interestingly, this is the place where parts of the Bhahubali movie was shot. We all were sweating by the time we reached there since there were rocky areas to climb to reach the main falls! We spent time there taking photos.

Soon we came out and headed towards Coimbatore. We reached Coimbatore by late evening after a long day on the roads. Next morning we planned to have a day out with some fun activities in Periyakulam lake. We did a boat ride around the lake, the fresh air and breeze lightened all of us up for ziplining after this. As we walked to the ziplining area, we spotted a bunch of insects and flowers with beautiful backgrounds behind.

We were full of excitement as we reached the place. Getting the gear ready, we made it to the top of the tower to get started. And yes….. We were extremely frightened, especially because one of us have a fear of heights and that it was also above a water body! But the thrill of wanting to try, took over and we did it!! The experience was so fun, we even did a second ride!

This trip was a mix of devotion, play, fun and a lot more..

Waiting for another trip like this!
